Major Ensemble Grading Policy Performance Ensemble
Participation 50 %
1. Attendance (the 85% rule is in effect)
2. Prepared for rehearsal (instrument, music, pencil)

4. Music Preparation of Major Ensemble Literature
Sectional 30%
1. Attendance
2. Preparation of assigned lesson material (solos, etudes, etc.)
3. Scales, arpeggios
4. Work Ethic
5. All students are expected to attend4out of 6 sectionals per marking period.
6. Students are only permitted to attend 2 sectionals per cycle (the scheduled sectional and one make up).
Concerts 20%
1. Attendance
2. Appearance
3. Concert Etiquette
4. Overall individual performance
5. If you miss a performance of the ensemble make up assignments are as followed:
A)prepare a four (4) page, double-spaced, type-written paper on a subject related to your ensemble, instrument or voice, or a piece of concert literature.
B) A recording of you performing your performance literature emailed to your ensemble teacher.
Consultation with your teacher is required on the first day back from your absence.
*All students will be graded on an individual basis of ability. No student will be judged against the skills of another student.

* Legal absence from school during a sectional will result in no point loss in that category. To earn the remaining points the student must schedule a make up lesson with their director.
The student will be afforded a make up lesson designed to meet their individual needs if they are either legally absent from school or asked to stay in class for the following reasons: test, quiz, movie, guest speaker, science lab
