Dear September 5, 2023
Dear students and families of the Class of 2024,
Welcome to senior year! An unofficial copy of your high school transcript will be mailed home this week for your review. It includes 8th grade credit-bearing classes, final grades from ninth through eleventh grade, and the highest recorded Regents examination scores for each exam. Carefully review and verify that all information is correct, including address, date of birth, etc, and follow the steps below:
- Sign your name at the bottom of the transcript.
- Circle any item(s) that are incorrect and indicate what needs to be corrected.
- Return the signed transcript to Ms. Jennifer Hasselberger at [email protected] no later than Monday, September 18th, 2023, whether corrections are needed or not.
Parents, save the date for our Senior College Information Night on Monday, September 18th, 2023. This meeting will be presented in the Schreiber Auditorium from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Seniors, you will attend an info session from your counselor on Tuesday, September 19th during Period 2. More information about the locations, etc. will be shared prior to the date. During the evening and morning info sessions, counselors will discuss college processing forms and other must know application procedures.
Also, please save the date for our upcoming Financial Aid Information Night on Wednesday, October 18th from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Once again, we are partnering with Adelphi University to share the latest information on the new FAFSA expected to be released in December.
Some important items to note at this time:
The counseling office submits transcripts, counselor letters of recommendation, and the school profile electronically to colleges by your deadline dates. It is important to note that there is no advantage to students if our documents are submitted sooner. Colleges review students’ completed applications after their early action and early decision deadlines. Students, be sure to speak to your counselors if you have any questions about the process. Additionally, you must be sure that your Naviance Student account is activated and that your Common Application is “matched” to your Naviance account. This video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjeDWpfBb3Y explains the Common App/Naviance matching process. If you require further assistance, please reach out to your counselor.
College admissions officers and employers do a thorough review of your transcript and senior year grades before final decisions are made. The diligence and hard work you maintain throughout this year will have an impact on your post secondary choices. We look forward to being a part of your journey this year.
Sincerely,
Lorrie A. Director
