Schreiber High School 2025-2026
January Midterm/Regents Exam Information
Dear Parents and Students,
This letter includes important information regarding January Testing Week, which will take place Tuesday, January 20 through Friday, January 23, 2026.
There will be no regular classes during Testing Week. Students should report to school only to sit for their assigned exam(s). The testing schedule, including dates, times, and locations, is outlined below. For additional reference, the testing schedule will be posted in the high school lobby and guidance hallways. Classroom teachers have also reviewed testing information with students. Room assignments will be distributed one week prior to the exam window.
Testing information will also be available on Schreiber’s homepage, along with the modified bus schedule in effect during Testing Week.
The high school cafeteria will offer a limited breakfast and lunch menu each day.
Please note that regardless of any information from the New York State Education Department or other sources, all Schreiber morning exams begin at 8:15 AM and all afternoon exams begin at 12:15 PM.
- Midterm exams are scheduled for two hours
- New York State Regents exams are scheduled for three hours
Make-Up Exams (Room 117)
No student is expected to take more than two exams in one day. Students who are scheduled for three exams in a single day, have a scheduling conflict, or were absent for a local exam are expected to report to the Make-Up Room, room 117, during the next available testing session that day or the following day.
Students with a scheduling conflict are expected to begin the second exam within 30 minutes of completing the prior exam to allow time for lunch or rest.
Regents exams may not be made up until the next testing cycle offered by New York State, June 2026. Therefore, Regents exams take priority over local exams.
Any student who is absent from or fails to make up a required exam, during exam week, will receive a grade of Incomplete until the exam requirement has been fulfilled. Students and teachers must arrange a make-up date as soon as reasonably possible following Testing Week. Students may not take exams in advance of the scheduled testing dates.
Accommodations
Students who have been officially approved for testing accommodations will be afforded those accommodations. Classroom teachers will inform students of their testing location when room assignments are available.
Security Procedures
To maintain testing security:
- Students are expected to have their Student ID cards with them at all times in school.
- Backpacks are not permitted in the building during Testing Week. Any student entering with a backpack will be required to turn it in to school personnel for storage in a locked lobby closet. Any backpack left after 3:30 PM will remain locked in the closet until the following school morning.
- Electronic devices are not permitted during exams. Devices must be powered off and surrendered to the testing proctor and will be returned only when the student permanently exits the exam.
- Any violation of these procedures may result in test invalidation.
Preparation
We encourage students to begin preparing for Regents and midterm exams well in advance of Testing Week. Prolonged late-night studying often leads to exhaustion and increased stress; therefore, we strongly encourage students to prioritize adequate rest and healthy relaxation.
Schreiber students are typically well prepared for exams, and while the academic rigor is significant, Testing Week often provides a welcome change to the regular school schedule. We recognize the responsibility students carry during this time and wish them continued success.
Warm regards,
Schreiber Administration
