The Port Washington School District is proud to announce that Nick Schratwieser, Director of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics, has been named the Section VIII recipient of the NYSAAA Judith Ann Knight Positive Change Award. This honor, voted on by the Nassau County Athletic Administrators, is presented to an athletic director who demonstrates a passion for enhancing programs, strong leadership, and the ability to mentor others. Throughout his career, Mr. Schratwieser has been a contributor to several key organizations, including the NYSAAA, NYSPHSAA, NYSAHPERD, and the NIAAA.
Mr. Schratwieser joined the district in 2020 and has since worked to improve every aspect of the athletics program, from student-athlete preparation to the way the district is represented on and off the playing field. He holds a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Salisbury University, a master's degree in Childhood Education and Special Education from Adelphi University, and an administrative degree from Hunter College. His professional background includes experience as a teacher, assistant principal, dean, and coach across New York City and Nassau County.
