Dr. Kathryn Behr named Nassau BOCES School Library System’s Administrator of the Year

On May 14th, Dr. Kathryn Behr, Principal of Paul D. Schreiber High School, received the Nassau BOCES School Library System’s Administrator of the Year award for 2025-2026. Nominated by librarian Michal Cohan for her student-centered leadership and support of literacy, research, and innovative learning, Dr. Behr was praised for her commitment to student and faculty achievement.

Since joining Schreiber, Dr. Behr has fostered increased emphasis on meaningful research and supported executive functioning practices, helping students become more confident and independent researchers.

Under her leadership, the Schreiber library expanded resources, including digital additions such as Sooth.FYI, JOVE, and Sora, as well as new physical titles. Dr. Behr also supported professional development, promoting collaboration and the exchange of innovative educational tactics among regional peers and school faculty.

“With Dr. Behr’s support, the library has become a central hub for the building that has a continuous buzz of learning and socialization through a shared educational space,” Cohan stated.

Dr. Behr credits the collaborative efforts of Schreiber’s faculty, librarians, and students.
