Students
How to Get Started:
1.Check your schedule to be sure that you are enrolled in one Senior Experience course. Please see your guidance counselor if you have any issues.
2.Start brainstorming what type of Senior Experience you would like to pursue: An Internship, Volunteer Work, or Career Oriented Project. Please keep in mind there is a 45 hour requirement, monetary compensation is not permitted and students may not intern with family members. This is your opportunity to pursue an area of interest before you graduate!
- some of your current hobbies you enjoy
- a subject in school you are most interested in
- a talent/skill of yours you want to continue to pursue or learn
- a competition, class trip, volunteer experience, club event that has stood out to you
- a professional who you admire or have worked with before
- an organization that you have a connection with/ are interested in
4. Begin networking to secure your internship! Reach out to people you know- relatives, family friends, neighbors, graduates, teachers, guidance counselor, former coaches/advisors, etc. You may also want to visit Port Washington's Chamber of Commerce. Here you can search by subject a list of local businesses. Stop by the JOBS Board outside of the Guidance Department. Although you may not be paid as part of your Senior Experience- this could be the start of a connection for you! You can also check out some nearby Volunteer Opportunities.
If you are struggling with an idea or have questions about your Senior Experience feel free to reach out to your Senior Experience Course Teacher or Mrs. Goldstein [email protected]
