Community Service Guide

Contributing to the community enables students to see themselves as part of the larger world, and to realize that they have the potential to make a difference. Participation in community service will increase self-esteem, provide exposure to potential career interests, and reinforce positive values. In turn, the community will gain from the time, talents and energy of caring student volunteers. The Community Service Resource Guide summarizes organizations in Port Washington and the larger community that provide an assortment of social, medical, educational, environmental and political service, and range from mentoring younger students to assisting senior citizens. Students may contact these organizations directly or through various Schreiber clubs whose activities include service participation in community organizations. The identification of the community service organizations in this guide is simply a beginning effort to link students with service options that match your needs and interests. Please feel free to explore these service opportunities as well as others not discussed in this guide.
